The Friend Zone

How would you feel if somebody wants to be your friend?

You'd feel great, right?

Of course!

Who wouldn't want a friend?

Friends are fun to be with.  Always has your back. Always there when you need someone to cry on. Yada yada yada...

Now, let's tweak the question a bit...

How would you feel if the woman you love wants to be just friends with you?

It won't even matter whether you're a best friend to her, a special friend or a super close friend.

The feeling will sadly be the same.

You'd probably be crushed. Your heart dropped in a blender set to puree.

I'm sure many can relate.

If you can't... go see "Just Friends"... and get a laugh at other people's misery :P

number 9

I wanted to join the Neil Gaiman/Fully Booked Contest for Short Story / Fiction but didn't have much time.  I'm swamped as it is.

Thats ok. I can write with or without contests anyways.

I just wish I had the time and the mojos to do it. I barely have time to write for this blog.

Oh and God... if you're reading my blog (I know you surf the net too...Huh! I saw Bruce Almighty!) I've one wish for now...

Make not my depth perception fail.

Thanks.

how to deal?

How do you deal with an overacting self pitying parent?

You don't!

Any slight attempt to explain your side or defend yourself would be the biggest mistake of your life.

The smallest mistakes will be manigfied and you'd end up the most evil person in the face of the planet.

The only thing to do is suck it up. Admit that everything is your fault.

A parent is always right. The offspring never is.

Don't get me wrong.... I love my parents and would always respect them.

It's just that sometimes, I feel that you can't really win Sad

Now why didn't I think of that!

LONDON (Reuters) - If you have an envious streak, you probably shouldn't read this.

Because chances are, Alex Tew, a 21-year-old student from a small town in England, is cleverer than you. And he is proving it by earning a cool million dollars in four months on the Internet.

Selling porn? Dealing prescription drugs? Nope. All he sells are pixels, the tiny dots on the screen that appear when you call up his home page.

He had the brainstorm for his million dollar home page, called, logically enough, www.milliondollarhomepage.com, while lying in bed thinking out how he would pay for university.

The idea: turn his home page into a billboard made up of a million dots, and sell them for a dollar a dot to anyone who wants to put up their logo. A 10 by 10 dot square, roughly the size of a letter of type, costs $100.

He sold a few to his brothers and some friends, and when he had made $1,000, he issued a press release.

That was picked up by the news media, spread around the Internet, and soon advertisers for everything from dating sites to casinos to real estate agents to The Times of London were putting up real cash for pixels, with links to their own sites.

So far they have bought up 911,800 pixels. Tew's home page now looks like an online Times Square, festooned with a multi-colored confetti of ads.

"All the money's kind of sitting in a bank account," Tew told Reuters from his home in Wiltshire, southwest England. "I've treated myself to a car. I've only just passed my driving test so I've bought myself a little black mini."

The site features testimonials from advertisers, some of whom bought spots as a lark, only to discover that they were receiving actual valuable Web hits for a fraction of the cost of traditional Internet advertising.

Meanwhile Tew has had to juggle running the site with his first term at university, where he is studying business.

"It's been quite a difficulty trying to balance going to lectures and doing the site," he said.

But he may not have to study for long. Job offers have been coming in from Internet companies impressed by a young man who managed to figure out an original way to make money online.

"I didn't expect it to happen like that," Tew said. "To have the job offers and approaches from investors -- the whole thing is kind of surreal. I'm still in a state of disbelief."

flood tales-1

"la nako boses." - ako
"strepsils ka." - pol
"di ba pang sore throat yun?" - semari
"dequadin yata. di ba yung sa commercial, yung tenor, nag dequadin?" - brio. "Ewan!" - ako
"di na lang ako magsasalita masyado." - ako

Tahimik lahat. Naglalakad pa rin. Change topic.
"May quiz ba bukas?"
"Wala."
"Assignmnet?"
"Wala rin."
"Ayus! Alala niyo nung tumugtog tayo ng Hotel California nung orientation ng Boy Scouts?"
"Tangnang yan, di tayo pinansin!"
"Hehehe!"

Nasa Espana na. May mga jeep na dumadaan na rito. Kanya kanyang sakay na ng jeep.
"Sige tsong bukas!"
"Ingat pre!"
"Bukas."

Oras na para mapahiya. Di naman. Dapat "Bukas ang 15 minutes of fame natin!"

Itutuloy...

of fan, idols and comedians

If you know me well enough, you'd know that I'm a huge fan of Vic Sotto.  I've long wanted to see Eat Bulaga live so that I can see my idol in the flesh. It seems that the nearest thing to a Vic Sotto encounter though is an encounter with his less famous sibling Val.

I saw Val with his family in a mall as I was going down the escalator.  I was hoping his broher Vic was around. No such luck.

I fondly remember Val as one of the Todas gang along with Spanky Rigor and Richie the Horsey. I grew up watching these guys on TV. Eighties Pinoy Comedy is still the best! Even before Bubble Gang, these guys were already making people's stomach hurt with laughter.   They weren't really the main stars like Tito, Vic and Joey were but they were hillariously funny nonetheless.  To me, Val is even more funny than Tito.  He just looked more of a kontrabida than a comedian, with the mustache and the bulk.

Speaking of being a huge fan, idols and comedians... Ihave some good news to share. We're finally gonna have "The Late Show with David Letterman" in Philippine Cable! Neat huh?  Super neat! Can't wait to see David again!  I heard he was successful in getting Oprah to guest back. I just hope they re-play it same way they do to Conan and Leno so that I don't miss it.
